My station consists of a Mark Products 4.5hz 3 Component Geophone buried in a 3 lb coffee can 5 feet deep with a mixture of sand and small rocks. The A/D converter is a 16bit Serial A/D converter that Larry Cochrane builds. Here is a link to Larry's Redwood City Public Seismic Network The Software I use is Larry's WinSDR which is a great program. To extract the earthquakes from the plots above I use Larrys WinQuake software. Can't beat it for ease of use!
