OLD AM TRANSCEIVER LIST

New price list of OLD 6M AM radios!

Here is a list of 6M AM Nets in the USA.

As you heard on Newsline and the VHF-reflector

there are many of us that are

going to take part in a "fun" experiment.

Here is what we are going to do.

This is quoted by Bill Pasternak, WA6ITF

"Starting in May, how about each of us get on 50.400

Mhz and call CQ at least once a day.

We should also post the UTC (or local)

time we plan to operate on the vhf-reflector

so the rest of us know when to listen.

In that way we become beacons for one another

and who knows how many QSO's will result.

In a few months we can compare notes here on the

reflector and see if SSB is better than AM

when 6 is wide open!

Any takers for a "fun" experiment?"

What I'm going to do here is post the QSL info you send me and

we can watch the info grow. This should be "fun"!!!

Click here to subscribe to the vhf-reflector In the body put "subscribe vhf" With out the quotes!

Leave the "Subject box blank"

Then click send.

Lets use the guest book to view when people will be out on the radio!

This will be for the people that can not subscribe to the vhf reflector.

NOTES:

On 5/23/97 when I was out there, no activity on 50.4! I called "CQ"

50.125ssb and got some folks from up north to "qsy" to 50.4AM.

It was very nice to hear Pat (k7yir) on 50.4AM since we had been trying to

work each other for about 2 weeks! One odd note was that Pat was having a QSO

with a friend k7nq who only lives 40 miles away from Pat and I could not work

him.

As far as audio, on "AM" it's a lot more crisp! Sure there is the typical

AM noise when they are not quite in there but when they come in strong

they sound like they are in the room with you! ===============================================================

7/9/97

There awas a opening reported to me by Tom KE6FDL and he reported that

"Worked the Seatle AM Group on Wednesday, 9 July 1997. K7YIR and others

heard me again. I run a G-50 when things are right in the shack, and a

TS-60 when I get suprised by an opening."

I agree Tom, It's always nice to have the band open. My hands get shaky

every time it opens up. Good luck and let me know of more openings!

Had a quick opening tonight that yielded me 3 qso's and 1 new grid and

state for the AM tests. Was sitting at the radio and heard some

distant stuff on 50.125 ssb. I had my 680R on 50.400 AM but did not

hear anything. Called CQ on 50.125 and Dave KC5SFV came back as

 did KC5GEW.

After chatting with them for a bit I said I was going to QSY to

50.400 AM and when I got there N5GEN was there and We chatted for a bit

 then the band closed down..

Reported from Jack Albert WA9FVP in Bolingbrook, IL

"Recalling your e-mail from last month I would like to report the

following.

After reading the "tid bit" in the October's QST on page 25 in the

Correspondance section the "Try 6-Meter AM", I called CQ last Friday,

in the Chicago area and worked someone in Crown Point Indiana. It

really worked for me! How about you?"

Thanks for the info Jack,

Well I had only a couple locals that weekend of 8/23/97.

There was not a peep of DX on 6m at all unfortunately!

Had a good opening on 6M today. Was calling CQ about every 10

min with no one calling back. I did manage to get one new state

"WY" and 3 new grids on SSB.

A very good opening on 6M this evening from DM04.

Was listeningand calling CQ on 50.400 AM with no luck so

around 02:00utc on 50.125 I said I was QSY'ing to 50.400 AM!

Wow that caused a nice pile up! I worked about 6 stations on AM

but there were to many trying to work each other! I just sat

back and listened for a while.

12/31/97

Had another good opening that gave me another State "OK" on AM.

Had some friends over for a New Years eve party so could not

stay out and play very long. Tim N5TML was out there and I'll

tell you he has a very good sounding radio. When the band was

open it was not up and down! It was strong. Worked several

others out there in the little time I had.

01/11/98

Had another one of those nice openings again today!

Not a lot going on on AM but did work K5AM Mark.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

02/07/98

Had a short opening and worked K6LS Phil on AM. The band was

only open for about 45 min. here in DM04.
